Allta is a Gaelic word meaning “wild,” and this whisky is named after the wild yeast strain that was discovered growing on Glenmorangie’s own barley fields. This unique yeast strain is used to ferment the barley, creating a distinctive flavor profile. The Glenmorangie Allta has a warm, golden color and a complex aroma with notes of orchard fruits, citrus, and vanilla. On the palate, it is rich and creamy with flavors of honey, barley sugar, and a hint of mint. The finish is long and lingering with a gentle spiciness. This whisky is aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-rye casks and is bottled at 51.2% ABV. It is a full-bodied and robust whisky with a rich, creamy texture and a slightly spicy kick.
